According to new research, 36% of female staff at SMEs said they want more inclusive benefits.
The survey collected responses from more than 1,000 SME employers and employees to identify trends dominating HR in 2022.
Of the female employees 45% cited a better work-life balance would be an attractive benefit. Lack of flexibility proved to be a problem with 44% of employees, with 40% saying they would be more engaged if they had a better work-life balance.
90% of SME employers agreed that rewarding and recognising the workforce enhances loyalty. Despite this, 72% of women felt undervalued and 8% could not remember the last time they were acknowledged for a job well done. Nearly seven in 10 (69%) said they would be more likely to stay in their current job if they were rewarded more regularly.
Nearly three-quarters (73%) said they would be more likely to accept a role within an SME if it offered good benefits. One-quarter (25%) said they would prefer private health care and dental cover. Just slightly less (23%) prioritised discounts on everyday expenses.
